If your son shows the potential to become a talented pitcher, one the the best investments that you can make is to buy a load of dirt, clay dirt that is. Building your own backyard pitching mound will help your player develop skill, arm strength, and confidence. Pick a location that is out of the way and ok with Mom. The best thing to do is for you to buy a catching mitt, get catcher protector, and catch his home practice sessions yourself. If you do not feel safe, buy a pitching target and a couple dozen practice baseballs and let him throw at the spots on the target. I guarentee you, if you do this, you will one day, look back and think of this as a great investment.
Good luck to your son and your team, til next time, Nick
